CAN YOU TELL!!
WHEN YOU ARE NEW TO MARKETING & NEW TO SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES
So…Can you tell when you are being befriended for someone’s agenda? Can you tell if the friendship that they are offering is genuine? I would say not at first. It takes alittle longer than a minute to make a friend. It will take you longer than a minute to just communicate who you are. It will take longer than a minute to find out who they are. It will take longer than a minute to find out each others needs. If there is someone out there that you REALLY want to make friends with and think you can learn from, watch their posts and articles and read between the lines. There are definetely tell tale signs!
TELL TALE SIGNS & CHOICES!!
For instance: You will find some references within the article or post about their business opp. If they have been doing it this way for awhile, they get so good at it, that it is barely perceptible, and it might be VERY genuine If every subject that they post in has something about their opp obscure or not within their content, re-read the thread and see if that person’s opportunity is relevant to the topic at hand. If it’s not relevant to the topic, they are pitching the entire thread and not just you., There are always choices. You can choose not to bite the bait or You can choose to go ahead & Click on the link, if it grabs you, ONLY YOU will know if it’s right for you.
I can usually tell if someone is just getting my info so that they can pitch me. For me personally, if I am befriended:
A) Before I have had a chance to read something that they have written or posted to an article, forum or blog and they pitch me after just connecting, I will know.
Again with the choices. You also can reject the friend request, or go and look at the person’s profile and see if that person is someone you want to join up with as a friend.
B) They send a newbie a “friend” request, before that person commented on anything or has even had a chance to set up their profile “about me
C) They sit on the community page waiting like a vulture for Brand new people, as soon as the poor newbie puts up a profile, he or she gets nailed with opps which they don’t have a clue yet as to whether they may or may not need, to help them in their endeavors
PREDATORS AND THE NEWBIE TRAP!!
I am not exactly sure how to avoid this from happening, I am not as “NEWBIE” as when I started a couple of months ago. I am learning that there are predators in social networking sites that latch on to newbies who are looking for “HOPE” who get tagged by these individuals as soon as they get in the gate.
Predators prey on person’s sense of desparation! They prey on your sense of hope. They figure that if this individual is so desparate as to latch on to anything out of the gate without researching the opportunity or product, then they are fair game for WHATEVER this predator is offering! They might not even realize that what the predator is offering is HYPE until they have already been sucked in, they paid money, chasing down & pissing off family & friends, as in the old fashioned way of marketing.
THE OLD GUARD AND OLD WAY OF RECRUITING!
I guess I am having a hard time believing that some of the biggest MLM companies are still using this technique. They figure that if you hit enough NO’s with cold calling, you will eventually find a YES. I am not saying that this “approach” method doesn’t work entirely, BUT you get kicked in the teeth alot in the process.
Don’t get me wrong. If the person says “I need help! I have “O” experience, I just stumbled in & saw this thread, I thought I would follow it, see what kinds of things people were saying”
If the post has good, informative content, the new person will reach out to them! I don’t mind opportunity, in fact I needed a good product that I can believe in and promote.
CREATE THE NEED!!!
I am sure that there are alot of really good opportunities out there. But if you are entirely new to marketing of any kind, beware of that “Create the need” marketing that some people do.
These examples include but are not limited to: Limited time offer! Get it Now before it’s gone for good!! Positions won’t last!! Get in on the ground floor! Make money while you sleep!
If someone tells you that you can get rich in a week RUN! If you are trying to make money over night buy a lottery ticket, as you have just as much chance of doing it over night as some of the hype crap that is out there.
YOU CAN GET RICH!
BUT IT TAKES TIME!
So… Yes! You can get rich, you can fire your boss eventually! But it takes work & time to get it all set up and working and you have to be consistant. In fact you really do actually have to work for it! but, if you are willing, you can do it. Every Network Marketer has their own way of doing things. Everybody has their idea of what works for them. Everybody has an idea of right or wrong ways to market.
HELPFUL HINT: IT TAKES LONGER THAN A WEEK OR TWO TO MAKE A 6 FIGURE INCOME!!!
I am sure that there are flukes! That some folks have triple type A personalities that they just hammer away at it day and night to get the leads the hard way.
PROPER PLACES TO ADVERTISE YOUR OPPORTUNITY IN A SOCIAL NETWORKING COMMUNITY!
There are proper places within a social networking community! The first would be in the signature area. Most social sites allow you to post your links in your signature. Whatever catch phrases you have can be used to go with your links. There is an opportunity page, where you can post your opportunity or find an opportunity to get into.
BUILD A WEBSITE WITH YOUR OWN DOMAIN NAME
I have a couple of places that I promote my opps in, but they are done this way because it offers me several things to advertise with. I don’t beg someone to look at my opportunity! I post it and if someone goes to one of my “Splash” pages to sign up for more info, that does not mean that I slam them with emails. If & when they read something I’ve written in a blog or forum, and decide to visit my site, I will wait until that person really wants more information. They will either call or email me and then I can make contact with a clear concience.
MAKE A GENUINE OFFER OF FRIENDSHIP TO SOMEONE YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT!
I have made friends with a few people in my social community. I now have more friends in these places than I ever had out in the world in my whole life. There are alot of people, both young and old, new to marketing or seasoned veterans who have been around awhile, that have given me some REALLY GREAT ADVICE! Those are the ones I want to hook up with as they make me feel like I can do it, with a little help and good reading material. I have gone in empty handed except for myself as a person, hoping to be able to learn & return the favor to these folks eventually, with my knowledge of things: wood working hobbies, leather work, beadwork, computer issues & house cleaning , just to name a few. I have other places where I will pitching my passion and the niches common to mine.

NEWBIE MISTAKES!
Just because this individual is new to a social networking site, doesn’t mean they are new to marketing. The most common mistake is joining a social site and immeadiatly “Pitch” their opportunity in forums that have nothing to do with the topic, any place with a pulse! Blatantly!
I did it! I was new to network marketing as a whole though, I just didn’t know the ettiquete. Once it was pointed out to me, I then quickly learned how to spot it myself.
So there you have it. My limited experience!
